Danube Bend, Hungary 2007 - Travelogue

Friday 24th  |  At last page

Saturday 25th August

Having finished the last of the cleaning and the house passing inspection by JEKA, there was time for a last photograph before we said goodbye to our house and boarded the coach to depart. The journey started well with only a small hold up before we got to the Hungarian border where we had our first stop, back in Euroland.

It was then back on the coach as it headed through Austria and into Germany where we stopped for an evening meal. Once back on the coach we headed onwards into the night.

Sunday 26th August

The early morning saw us once more crossing the very bottom of the Netherlands before entering Belgium heading towards Antwerp and the coach depot. Once at the depot we said goodbye to Harry, our driver, before filling the coach with diesel and heading off towards France and the ferry terminal at Calais.

Because of the speedy driving through the night we were over two hours ahead of schedule so only had to wait about ten minutes before being able to board an early ferry. Once on board we were able to tuck into a full English breakfast before settling down to await our arrival at Dover. Once landed, all that remained was the M25, which at this time on a Sunday the traffic was light, before stopping at Boreham services for a final cleaning of the coach.

It was then just a short trip back to Silver End where all the parents were waiting for us, the home contact having told them of our expected early arrival time. It was then just a case of unloading the coach before saying farewell to everybody.
