Adelboden, Switzerland 2005 - Travelogue

panoramic (26K)

Friday, 12th August

Friday afternoon saw 48 Scouts, Explorers and Leaders from 1st Heybridge and 1st Silver End arriving at the Co-op in Silver End to board the coach for Adelboden, Switzerland (Les was even early).

The coach left on time at 6.00pm and, after waving goodbye to the parents, we were finally off.

After picking up our drivers for the week, Chris and Howard, from the services at Maidstone, we were off to Dover to catch the ferry. Following a short 1¼ hour crossing to Calais, we re boarded the coach for the long journey to Switzerland.

Saturday, 13th August

After driving (or in our case sleeping) through the night, we stopped for breakfast in Metz, France at 7.00am before heading onwards into Switzerland.

After about 20 hours travelling we finally arrived at our chalet for the week. The chalet, Hari 4, was situated in the Bunderle, a small side valley of Adelboden, and set against the superb backdrop of the imposing Lohnermountain.

After Dan had to quickly reallocate some of the rooms due to a missing bed!, the rest of the afternoon and evening was spent unpacking and settling in.
