For our Summer Camp 2005, 9 Scouts, 1 Explorer and 5 Leaders from 1st Heybridge Scouts joined together with 28 Scouts, 1 Explorer and 4 Leaders from 1st Silver End Scouts for our first International Camp to Adelboden, Switzerland for ten days from the 12th to 21st August 2005.

Having survived the 18 hour coach trip to Switzerland, everyone enjoyed a packed but varied programme for the week which included: alpine walking; scootering down the mountain; swimming; cable car rides; climbing; ice skating; high ropes adventure; tobogganning; and a visit to the International Scout Centre at Kandersteg.

Everyone will have brought back different memories for the trip, but one of the highlights of the week for many was the view from the top of the 2970 m high Schilthorn. The summit of this peak, reached by the longest aerial cableway in the Alps, is home to the revolving restaurant, Piz Gloria, made famous as the location for the James Bond film, "On Her Majestys Secret Service". The 360º panoramic view of over 200 peaks, including the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau, was simply spectacular.

Please take time to look at the travelogue and the photographs to see what we all got up to.
