Sixers and Seconders Camp - September 2005

What the Cubs thought of the weekend

"We had great fun and did backwards cooking and cooked sausages in bacon (mine burnt) and some made toast. The first thing we did at Cub camp was go for a long walk from Paper Mill to Maldon and then we put our tents up. It took a long time. We had blue barrels which we always played with all the time. We didn't get much sleep. I went to sleep about 10.00" - BD

"Sixers and Seconders camp was very fun. I enjoyed telling scary stories and jokes at the camp fire at night. I liked the food and when we cooked it, it was nice." - JC

"We started 10am Saturday morning. The walk was long and we took the route along the canal stopping occasionaly at different locks and sluces. By the time we had arrived at the campsite we were all very dirty. When we came to put up our tents we found that it was harder then we expected and we spent some time getting it to stay up. Once the tents were upright and filled with our bags we prepared dinner. It was mince and potatoes with pie and custard for pudding. After dinner we played, lit a fire and huddled round it, ate our midnight feasts and talked till bedtime. The tents were cold and there was lots of insect life but aside that we had a good night. The next morning we got up early ate and prepared breakfast (bacon and sausage with beans and potatoes), washed up and took our stuff out of our tents and took the tents down. I enjoyed the campfire, cooking, walking and camping. I wish that I went on camp every week!" - FW
