Kew Gardens Sleepover - October 2009

What do you do with Cubs on a Saturday night? You take them to sleep in a greenhouse of course! Instead of our annual sleepover with the sixers and seconders at the Science museum, we opted to spend the night in Kew Gardens. The evening started at 6pm with the Cubs setting up their beds in Climbers and Creepers, followed by a safety talk. Next, a variety of fun activities was had throughout the gardens. Horticultural competitions ‘behind the scenes’ in the Tropical Nursery including potting their own plant, a Treasure Hunt in the Princess of Wales Conservatory, and a torch-lit plant hunt in the Arboretum, photography and bat detecting. the Cubs even explored a badger set. The last activity of the night was had singing and toasting marshmallows around the campfire. Between these activities a light supper was had back at Climbers and Creepers play area. In the morning we all enjoyed a breakfast of cereal, croissants, fresh fruit and juice before the awards ceremony. Our Cubs won the prize for the best campfire singers!!! All safely arrived home just after 10.30.
