Fossil Hunting At Walton On The Naze - September 2009

45 Cubs and Scouts along with leaders and Parents left Heybridge for a day out with the Nazeman in Walton on the Naze. The young people learned what fossils were and how to find them before decending the cliff to the beach. No sooner had we arrived on the beach than the first fossil was found, a piece of wood that had turned to iron. Everyone who attended found quite a number of different fossils including Roman cement rock, wood, shark teeth, and shells, but the highlight of the day for the youngsters at least, had to be when a few of the Cubs and Scouts fossils were identified as fossilised turtle pooh!!!
