PL and APL Camp - October 2005

8 PL's and APL's started off the weekend by testing out their navigation skills with a short hike, complete with their kit, from Wickham Bishops to the Church Ground. Having arrived at the ground, and discussed a suitable camp layout they quickly put up their tents before stopping for lunch. The afternoon was spent with some workshops that included care and lighting of a variety of lamps and stoves. The Scouts then built a fire and prepared dinner. What would we do without "Cowboy Stew"? After dinner and washing up we all sat around the fire and told stories and jokes whilst toasting marshmallows.

After a nights sleep the Scouts cooked breakfast. Some of the toast almost burst into flames on the fires, but the bacon omelettes were excellent. Having packed away the tents, the rest of the morning was spent with some more workshops on ceremonies, axe and saw work, and map and compass work. Whilst some of the Scouts prepared lunch, the rest made sure that the camp site was left in a tidy state. With lunch eaten. all the kit was packed into the vehicles.

The PL's and APL's came away from the weekend enthused and wanting to take some of the rest of the Troop camping themselves.
